Wandering around last weekend I stumbled upon a few hidden treasures that made my day! Melbourne has one of the most unique and stand out vintage and antique markets and shops - that are hidden from plain sight to a normal home decor shopper!
Recognising the hidden potential in these vintage home decor items is what you need to understand and be on a look out for. Choose carefully depending on the theme of your home. These vintage pieces have a very distinctive charm and beauty, that always adds a bit of character to a room or home or an apartment!
Some of my finds that I feel have a lot of potential -
Chest of Drawers!
White Home Decor
Ornate Umbrella Stand
These are my favourite picks if you are on a look out for vintage or antique pieces for your home that won't be heavy on your pocket and still give you the look you desire!
1. Time Worn Style - check this stall at The Vintage & Makers Market Fair, Ferntree Gully & at Butlers Vintage Depot, Olinda. Alicia is an amazing person, a vintage merchant, designer and an Aussie mum.
2. Surburban Vintage - check out this stall (D10) at the Waverley Antique Bazaar. I found a lot of white home decor here - inspired by French decor and Shabby chic style.
3. Shoestring Splendour - Shoestring Splendour is a small Australian business originally from Melbourne and now in Launceston Tasmania owned by Sam who sells her products on ebay and deals mostly in pretty vintage and antique pieces. She's currently decorating her little cottage. I find her decor is mostly inspired by Shabby chic styles.
4. Waverley Antique Bazaar (Glen Waverley) one of the best kept secrets in Melbourne! A never ending series of stalls all in one place and you can easily spend the entire day looking for that one unique piece or more!
More on Antique Furniture in my next post!
