Autumn Favourites for 2017

With the entire world moving towards spring and summer decorating, Australia is always a bit ahead in terms of seasons. Down under, we are now preparing for the wintery blast that is about to start after the weather winds down. It's exactly opposite to most parts of the world. So some of you might wonder why I am discussing Autumn instead of Spring! Maybe bookmark this page when you do get to Autumn at your side of the world!

So here are my favourite Autumn trends on decorating your home and making it more warm and cosy.

1. COLOURS OF AUTUMN

Welcome those warm colour palettes along with your neutral shades. Using these earthy tones along with bursts of darker shades. Shades of greys and blues along with textural elements is a good way to decorate your living room and bedrooms.

2. FABRICS

Use cosy woollen blankets, duvet or quilts that have natural or soft designs. One of the breakout trends of the 2017 London Fashion Week was the Duvet material coats. The 2017 New York Fashion week showcased velvet in jewel tone colours and vintage florals that are here to stay! So expect these fabrics to be showcased in all types of bedding - quilts, cushions covers, pillow cases etc.

3. CANDLES

Candles seem to still form an integral part of home décor right through autumn to winter. Scented candles are the way to go. Nothing makes a room more cosy than the warmth of candlelight.

4. TEXTURES & CUSHIONS

The neutral tones all around the room, need to be broken by the use of textured materials like handwoven rugs, woven throws or cushions.

5. HOME DECOR

A plaid blanket and pumpkins anyone? I have my cute velvet pumpkin ready to decorate my entryway. Decorate you're fireplace mantel my bringing the outdoors inside - autumn foliage and twigs. Decorate your perfect dinner setting with simple tableware - white plates, napkin rings, cotton napkins.
