3 Easy Ways to Usher in Summer in...

Slowly but surely, the sun has found it's way through the Melbourne chill and we can see the results in beautiful blossoms all over. It has been an amazing start to this year's sunshinne, although it's getting even more hot as we draw close to our wonderful spring! Moving on from the dark greys and heavy colours of winter to fresh, bright and warmer tones! I am looking forward to even more muted tones of greys, pastels, fresh greens and pinks! It surely is going to be a warm summer, don't you think?

So how do you bring in the summer spruceness and style to your home without being too heavy on your pocket? Here are my 3 quick and easy ways to welcome summer to your home and how to mix and match your decor -

1. THE OBVIOUS ONE - FLOWERS

You know it's summer when you start filling your vase with beautiful flowers and decorate your home with them! I prefer fresh flowers kept in boxes and can act as centerpiece for your dining table. I also make sure that I colour coordinate it with my home decor so it beautifies the space even more.

LVB Tip - The current trend is to use faux flowers, they are long-lasting and easy to maintain. I do prefer natural flowers but sometimes faux ones work even better!

2. CUSHIONS AND COLOURS

Get those fluffy cushions out that add colour and texture to your room and are handy when you need to set up your room for a quick makeover or to freshen it up a bit with the seasonal change. Cushions are the always the easiest and cheaper option when it comes to shifting your decor style for a room.

LVB Tip - Don't buy cushions of the same colour or from the same brand. Mix them up and choose different shapes and sizes.

3. DECORATE YOUR MANTEL, WINDOW SILL or FRONT PORCH

One way to bring in the change is to let it show on your front porch or make a statement with your entryway. Terracotta potter plants are in trend now and having those with some cute succulents or flowering plants will certainly add to the curb appeal. Or then decorate your window sill with a vase or place it on your fireplace mantel (if you have one).

LVB Tip - White wash your terracotta pots if you want to give them a French country cottage look that looks faded or worn out!

How does your home look with the change in seasons? Do you change it up for winter or summer? Do share some ideas or pictures with us!

To all those down under - Welcome to the glorious sunshine...

xoxo
