A Simple Australian Tablescape this Christmas

In Australia, we always have a Christmas that's celebrated under bright sunshine with colourful fervour and barbies galore! I always wanted to decorate a Christmas tables cape that was inspired by summer and the outdoors. Something that balances out between simplicity and still counts in with the traditional Christmas table setting! So this year's theme was simple with shades of grey and golden!

Tablescape

How do you get a table setting organised in 3 simple steps? Here are my easy ways of decorating your tables cape -

Christmas tables cape

1. SIMPLE COLOUR PALETTE

Choose a simple colour palette and pick something neutral. I picked white and gold as the main colours and then decided to add grey to the mix. This gives you an idea on how you want to decorate and also helps in achieving a minimal yet elegant look. Keeping colors neutral is the easiest way to achieve a fresh minimal look.

Layering of plates

LVB Tip - Start off with a simple white tablecloth that works like a blank canvas and then work your way with the centre piece of the table and then everything around it. White dinnerware is a safe choice if you are unsure about your colour palette.

2. MIX UP STYLES

Rather than using just one tables cape, a good idea is to use three table runners placed across the shorter length of your table, this adds a decorative aspect as well as serves as placemats on either side of the table. I have used placemats instead of a table runner. Layer your plates like I have done, you can pick the same colour plates or mix and match them!

LVB Tip - Add a touch of texture by using table napkins that have patterns or designs. Layer your plates and bowls!

3. ADD NATURAL DECOR

Add simple candles, candle holders, add some greenery faux plants or flowers and some lights that's all you need - simple and easy.

LVB Tip - Candle holders and flowers are something that can make your tablescape even more beautiful, so do choose them carefully.

Led lights

I added some led lights or should I say fairy lights and some faux plants. Make sure to choose the decor based on your colour scheme or theme!

Will share my to do list in the next blogpost once the Christmas decorations are all done! Hope this post has provided you with some inspiration to set up your dining table for forthcoming festivities!
